Sports Injuries
We have a special interest in managing sports injuries including acute, chronic, recurrent and overuse injuries. Thorough assessments and diagnosis are the key to a successful recovery and getting our patients back on track. We understand the importance of returning to the sport you love, so will work with you to reach any upcoming goals or competitions. As early as possible, we will give you realistic timeframes for your injury. We place a heavy emphasis on the underlying cause of injuries and focus on prevention to avoid recurrent episodes. Exercise rehabilitation is a large part of our treatment and will involve you doing work at home to achieve the best outcomes. We aim for each patient to be doing sports specific rehabilitation and will liaise with coaches where necessary to manage the gradual return to training and competition.
Where surgery is required, we will manage your injury from diagnosis, imaging and pre-op rehab through to the early days post op and gradual return to sport. We will liaise with your surgeon at each stage of your recovery and ensure your return to sport is as seamless as possible. We understand the pressure and frustration that comes from missing training and competition, so will work with you on every aspect of your fitness throughout the process.
We are experienced in treating all areas of the body and have a strong focus towards hands on therapies as well as exercise rehabilitation. This will often involve prescribing a home exercise program to continue your recovery between sessions. We use the following interventions to help you achieve your goals:
- Manual therapies
- Joint mobilisation
- Taping
- Dry needling
- Deep tissue massage
- Stretching
- Rehabilitation strength exercises
- Balance work
